ANCHORPOINT

I was saved at the age of nine in Lubbock, Texas.  I was very excited about my salvation and began reading my Bible faithfully.  Looking back I believe the Lord issued the call to ministry even at that early age.  I dreamed I was following after the example of Billy Graham as I slipped off to the caliche pit behind my house in Lubbock, standing on the edge of the big pit singing hymns and preaching to the rocks and salamanders.    Soon after that, I picked up my Bible, climbed out of my bedroom window, and headed out to preach the gospel to the world.  A few hours later, as darkness came, and I began to get hungry, I knocked on the door of a cotton farmer just outside of Lubbock….he was kind and politely called my dad.  I was home just in time for supper.

I've never forgotten that event.  Although, as I grew older and cares of the world tempted this young man, I did forget the joy of my salvation but the Lord never left me.  Realizing the Lord stayed with me through all circumstances, I rekindled that joy and now I try to live every day listening and following Him down the road of life.

Time went by and I met a young lady, my boss’s daughter, who changed my life.  In order to be able to spend time with her I started attending church and walking the straight line.  I fell in love with that girl, found once again the joy of my salvation and dared to dream of following the calling to the ministry with my new found passion of music.  I’m pretty hard-headed and many times find myself “blazing the trail” the Lord places before me.  More than once I have misunderstood (or refused to listen) to the direction and timing of the Lord’s instructions.  In my quest to follow the passion for music and the Lord’s calling (erroneously in that ordered), the path has taken me to children’s choir leader, church music director of several churches, recording of my first country music album in Shreveport, LA, to the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, TN, into the radio business as a gospel program disc jockey and radio sales rep.  I have also released several songs to Christian Country and Bluegrass radio and charted with several of those songs.

Throughout this quest in life I have always placed music and my desire for recognition first.  My second desire was to generate enough income for a comfortable living for my family.  And, oh yes, of course, my calling for ministry from the Lord.  Today, as Anchorpoint Ministries, our priorities have changed.  God, family and the high calling of Jesus Christ in my life have become the priority.  I believe the high calling for Anchorpoint Ministries involves sharing the Father’s love through music with Matthew 25: 34-40 as the guiding light and anchor to everything we do.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY as we lift up THE NAME OF JESUS.

God Bless You as you find the high calling of Jesus Christ in your life.

Birth of Anchorpoint Ministries:

In 1993, shortly after returning to Texas from Nashville, TN., my wife presented me with a book, “Six Hours One Friday”, written by Max Lucado in 1989.  In this book he talks of being caught by life’s storms.  Six hours one Friday, Jesus taught us with three anchor points how to weather the storms of life no matter how or when they strike.  My life was in the midst of a storm after financial, emotional and spiritual bankruptcy had taken its toll earlier that year.  From this time in my life and the inspiration of the book by Max Lucado, Anchorpoint Ministries was founded in 1993.

Our family survived those rugged years, my wife stood by me faithfully and we both continued to grow in the Lord and praise His Name, knowing that without Him we would be nothing.  Over the next fifteen years the Lord took us through “Boot Camp”, “Advanced Individual Training” and “On The Job Training” in ministry to prepare us for the commissioning of Anchorpoint Ministries by Him.

We plan to help others by teaching the Anchor Points of Life that Jesus revealed Six Hours One Friday.  Today, we are happy, blessed and confident in our hope and faith in Jesus Christ.  We pray that we can faithfully share the joy, peace and hope in Jesus to all that come in our path.  www.anchorpointministries.com
